Preparing for Marbled Murrelet Survey Season

Marbled murrelet survey season is right around the corner. Lately, we’ve been doing a lot of hiking and mapping out our survey stations. Here is some of what we’ve seen so far:

A type of gooseberry, from the genus Ribes.

Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma oregonense)

Complex, mature canopy structure makes ideal marbled murrelet habitat.

These photos were all taken in proposed Oregon Department of Forestry timber sale areas for 2015.

Marbled murrelet survey season is May 15–Aug 5. Send us an email if you’re interested in helping with hiking or surveying. We’re looking forward to another plant ID hike and a mushroom workshop this month. Hope to see you there!
